For Sale is a German Dollar-denominated Gold loan, issued a mere 2 years after the height of the
hyper-inflation period in Germany (1924)
.
These German loans were issued in US Dollars during a time when confidence in the local currency was very weak (1924-1930).
And with the advent of
WWII
, many of these corporate bonds
defaulted
and interest coupons
unredeemed
.
Up until 1993, holders of these bonds were able to redeem their investments at 10% of face value under the General Law Regulating Compensation for War-induced losses.
However, with this deadline now elapsed, these bond certificates no longer hold any investment value.
Instead, they have become highly collectible due to their scarcity.
